Carly's 1st Lost Tooth

As mentioned in the previous post, Carly lost her first tooth the week before kindergarten started (on August 7th). She lost it at her friend Abby's birthday party. We went to pick her up, and she still had her tooth in her mouth. She ran upstairs to get her shoes and came down the stairs with her tooth in her hand! It had been pretty loose for a few days.

She was a little unsure about the whole thing at first. Every time she was near a mirror, especially in the car, she would smile and look at her missing tooth. Finally the next day she said, "Daddy, I think it looks cute to have a missing tooth!" And she's right! She's already looking forward to losing her next loose tooth, and she has one that is a little loose.

As a side note, one of her best friends, Reese, lost the same tooth on exactly the same day! It was Reese's second lost tooth.

Here's the proud girl showing off her new smile and her lost tooth!

We did not have an "official" tooth bag or box, so Carly decided this shell box would be it. This box is from the wedding we went to in California this summer for Troy's cousin, Tonya. Each guest got one of these boxes with delicious shell-shaped chocolates in them. Carly LOVED the box, so we brought a couple home. Good thing!

And here's what the tooth fairy brought! Two dollar bills, a quarter with a horse on it (because the tooth fairy knew Carly loves horses), a package of Pez (because the tooth fairy knew Carly had a Lightning McQueen Pez dispenser from Uncle Jesse), and some jelly beans (because the tooth fairy had a bag of them laying around!).

A funny side-note on this, Jack walked around for the next week insisting that he had a loose tooth. He would open his mouth and act like he was wiggling on of his front, bottom teeth. He was pretty interested in the whole affair, but I think the tooth fairy box really piqued his interest!

I love the pictures--she looks so cute with her new toothless grin! Isn't funny how much older they seem when they can start losing teeth?!

I love the idea of using the shell box for the tooth fairy. And don't tell Reese about the Tooth Fairy bringing candy--she'd wonder where hers was and would probably accuse me of eating it. She's probably be right, too. :) You'll have to let us know when she loses the other tooth!
